As it has consistently done since the inception of this ranking, Mexico once again finds itself among the top 5 positions in 2023, claiming the first spot.

Mexico is a friendly country
The ease of adaptation and the friendliness of the locals were two indices in which Mexico stood out over Spain, Panama, Malaysia, and Taiwan, countries that occupied the following positions. Expatriates in Mexico have enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of the country, as the majority find that local residents are generally friendly.
They also report that making friends is not a problem, and they are happy with their social lives in general. Approximately three out of every four foreigners in Mexico say it's easy to make local friends, and this factor is crucial because it indicates that expatriates have a personal support network that motivates them to stay in the country.
Another interesting aspect is that the respondents stated that Mexico is a country where they feel welcomed and where it is easy to adapt to the culture, customs, and traditions of the locals.
Expatriates are happy with their life in Mexico
Mexico had another outstanding performance in the essential expat index: digital life, administrative issues, housing, and language. The aspect of housing deserves special attention, as expatriates claim that accommodation in Mexico is not only easy to find, but also affordable.
Likewise, it ranked second in the ersonal finance index, as 71% of respondents are satisfied with the overall cost of living, and 80% are satisfied with their financial situation, compared to the global average of 58%. Finally, 90% of expatriates claim to be happy with their life in Mexico, compared to the global average of 72%.
